Robert E. Lefler passed away on September 10, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on September 18, 1939, Robert will be remembered as a man who found joy in simple pleasures, treasured time with his family, and carried a wide range of interests throughout his life.
Robert was an avid woodworker who especially enjoyed creating model cars and model ships, a pastime that reflected both his patience and craftsmanship. He was also a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Blues, and he enjoyed playing Bingo. In his earlier years, he loved camping with his family and fishing, and he also took part in skeet shooting. These interests brought him happiness and helped shape many memorable moments over the years.
He is survived by his daughters, Jean (James) Quitugua, Christine Lefler, Cynthia Lefler, and Catherine Lefler. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Ciearia (Derrick) Spoede, LaRay Clark, Jeannevie (Brandon) Brooks, and Michelle (Danny) Fisher; and his great-grandchildren, Nova Spoede, Audrey Atkin, Gary Sassed, Riley Gibbs, Runa Ejde, and Elise Fisher. Robert is also survived by his brothers, Joe (Helen) Lefler, and Jim Schaffernegger; his sister, Jeanne (Dave) Gulley; and a host of other family members and friends who will carry his memory forward with love.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Lefler; his mother, Estelle Lela Schaffernegger; his sister, Patsy (Richard) Courisky; and his brother, Donald Lefler.
Robert’s life was marked by the things he enjoyed, the family he loved, and the many connections he made along the way. He will be remembered with affection and missed deeply by those who knew him.
