Robert James Thiemann

Robert “Bob” Thiemann was successful by many measures, but none more important to him than that one. Born on December 15, 1934, Bob lived life on his own terms. Brilliant, hard-working, and fiercely independent, he was a truly indomitable spirit who looked back on his life with no regrets, and with just a bit of wonder at how well it all turned out.

From his humble beginnings during the Great Depression, he learned the value of hard work, determination, and frugality. He translated these lessons into a storied career in the Savings & Loan business before co-founding his own company, Thiemann-Stinnett, Inc., a respected St. Louis real estate development firm responsible for numerous residential neighborhoods and commercial developments throughout the region.

An avid reader, he also found joy in music, and his home was filled with the sounds of his piano, the Westminster chimes from his many clocks, and songs sung in his deep, reverberating bass. He delighted in telling jokes, and his signature wit was often on full display.

Perhaps his greatest joy was found in his deep devotion to his wife of 47 years, Sharon Montague Thiemann, who he wanted by his side for every experience life had to offer. Bob had five children of his own, and welcomed two more through marriage. Together, the family grew to include 13 beloved grandchildren, each of whom inherited Bob’s intellect and work ethic. He reveled in the success of his children and grandchildren, and never missed an opportunity to remind them how proud he was of each of them.

Whether admired for his intellect, remembered for his humor, or recognized for his determination, Bob lived a life that was unmistakably—and unapologetically—his own.
