Robert William Miller, born on July 16, 1937, in Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, in Wentzville, Missouri. He leaves behind a remarkable legacy of love, dedication, and community service.
Robert enjoyed a fulfilling 30-year career in the automobile industry, a passion that was evident in his ownership of over 100 cars throughout his lifetime. His enthusiasm for automobiles extended beyond mere ownership, as he engaged deeply with the community through various organizations related to his field. He was a proud member of the National Automotive Dealers Association, illustrating his commitment to the industry he loved.
In addition to his professional achievements, Robert demonstrated an admirable dedication to education and lifelong learning. In his 50s, he returned to college, ultimately earning a Bachelor’s Degree. This accomplishment highlighted his belief in the importance of education and personal growth.
For over 20 years, Robert served as the Director of Financial Aid for Missouri Baptist University, empowering countless students to pursue their educational goals. His influence extended far beyond the classroom, as he was actively involved in volunteering for various charities and organizations, including the Kiwanis Club in Festus, Missouri, the Optimist Club in Crestwood, and as a member of the Hillsboro City Council. His contributions to youth organizations such as the Boy Scouts of America, Friends of Scouting were significant, as was his involvement with the Jefferson County Library Board, where he served as President. Robert participated in the St. Louis Post Dispatch Old Newsboy Day, connecting his community service with his strong social values.
Robert was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in DeSoto, Missouri, where he served as a deacon and created strong connections within the congregation.
During his retirement years, Robert enjoyed traveling and embraced the RV lifestyle alongside his beloved wife, Jo Ann Miller. They spent cherished moments together in both Florida and Missouri, creating a tapestry of memories that their family and friends will hold dear.
Robert is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Miller; his children, David William (Amy) Miller and Mariann Denise (Ronald) Amass; his grandchildren, Brian (Tiffany) Amass, Karen (Jeffrey) Stokes, Rachel (Dominick Spinelli) West, Carson (Joanna) Miller, and Gage Miller; his great-grandchildren, Camren Amass, Dashel Miller, Elizabeth Stokes, and Savannah Stokes; his sister, Ann Elizabeth Miller; his niece, Dr. Dana (Adam) Kober Bayer; his nephew, Benjamin (Grace) Kober; as well as many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Miller; his mother, Hazle Blanche Miller; his brother, James Lacy Miller, his father-in-law, Carl E. Willey, and his mother-in-law, Mary L. Willey.
