Roger Leroy Tucker, of St. Peters, Missouri, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on October 9, 2026. He was born on December 7, 1939, in St. Louis, Missouri.
Roger was a hardworking and loving man whose life was marked by devotion to his family, steady faith, and a deep sense of purpose. He served honorably in the United States Air Force for eight years, and during his time in the service, his Catholic faith became an especially strong and guiding part of his life. He was a man of routine, stubborn in the ways that made him dependable, hardworking in all he did, and blessed with a good sense of humor that brought warmth to those around him.
He learned to weld in high school and loved it so much that he turned it into a successful career spanning more than thirty years. Roger took pride in honest work, and that same dedication carried into every part of his life. Though he was born a city boy, he was always a country boy at heart.
Among Roger’s greatest joys were the simple and lasting pleasures that made life rich: fishing, tracing family history as the one his family lovingly called the “family historian,” playing pinball and poker with his friends, and, above all, spending time with the people he loved most. He could make his wife, Tillie, laugh even though she was often very serious, and that gift for bringing lightness and joy to a moment was cherished by all who knew him.
Roger’s proudest accomplishment was his marriage to the love of his life, Matilda “Tillie” Tucker, with whom he shared 64 years of love, partnership, and family. As an only child, he always wanted a big family, and he found that dream fulfilled with Tillie. Together they built a life centered on love, loyalty, and the strength of family bonds.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Matilda “Tillie” Tucker, and by his five loving daughters: Patricia “Patty/Trish” Lough and her husband Ray, Laura Hodges and her husband Patrick, Mary Rhodes and her husband John, Deborah “Debbie” Jones and her husband Brian, and Cynthia “Cyndee” Araiza. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with extended family and many friends who will carry his memory forward with love. The family he longed for became the great blessing of his life, and his love for them was constant, steady, and deeply felt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Nancy Tucker.
