Ronald Ray Cowell

Ronald Ray Cowell, born on March 4, 1955, passed away on August 2, 2026, leaving behind a lasting legacy of hard work, devotion, and deep love for his family. Ronald’s joyful spirit and strong work ethic were evident to all who knew him and enriched the lives of those around him in countless ways.

Throughout his life, Ronald distinguished himself as someone who found joy in the simple pleasures: whether gathered around a card table for a spirited game of poker, tuning in to cheer for the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues, or savoring the sound of classic country music. An enthusiast of John Wayne movies and an expert at the grill, Ronald’s burgers and BBQs were the highlight of many family gatherings—each meal served with a side of laughter and stories only he could tell.

Bowling leagues spent alongside his beloved wife Carol brought him special happiness, as did his tireless dedication to providing for his family through hard work and “overtime all the time.” His exceptional memory and keen wit were matched only by his genuine love for the people in his life. Ronald truly cherished his 51 years of marriage, and he often expressed how much fulfillment he found in married life, his children, and grandchildren.

Above all, Ronald loved being surrounded by his family. He was a dedicated babysitter to his grandchildren, always willing to offer his time, patience, and presence whenever needed. He leaves behind his loving wife, Carol Cowell; daughters, Maria (LeMarvin) Williams and Diana (Trent) Sheffer; and his son, Kurt Cowell. Ronald’s legacy continues through his grandchildren, Alexandria Walker, Desynae (Gabe) Walker, AlZaae Walker, Marlee Williams, LeMia Williams, Macon Williams, Atlee Ray Cowell, Emma Sheffer, Anakin Cowell, Aiden Cowell, Durham Sheffer, and Isabella Leone. His great-grandchildren, Brandon Robinson, Jesse Vallejo, Jeremiah Walker, Camila Vallejo, Milani Morris, Naomi Morris, and Vinny Vallejo, will remember him fondly. Ronald is also survived by his sisters, Theresa Woytus and Connie Sweeso, as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends, all of whom will miss his warm presence and generous heart.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Joseph Cowell; mother, Margaret A. Cowell; and brother-in-law, David Sweeso.

Ronald Ray Cowell’s legacy is one of unwavering love, loyalty, and joy. His memory will remain a guiding light for all who were lucky enough to know him.
