Ruth Szalanski, born March 4, 1937, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026. Her life was marked by a deep commitment to her community, a passion for adventure, and unwavering devotion to her beloved family.

Ruth was a vibrant member of the Lake St Louis community, actively participating in several local organizations. She found great joy and camaraderie as part of the Lake St Louis Pontooners Club, the Lake St Louis Golf Club, and the Lake St Louis Historical Society. These affiliations not only brought her personal fulfillment but also offered her countless opportunities to forge meaningful friendships and make lasting contributions within her community.

A true enthusiast of life, Ruth loved antiquing and traveling. Alongside her loving husband, A. Donald Szalanski, she explored the world, collecting memories that became the stories she loved to share. Their shared adventures were a testament to their enduring partnership and shared curiosity. At home, Ruth was known as an excellent hostess. She delighted in gathering family, friends, and colleagues, ensuring that everyone felt welcome and cherished in her presence.

Ruth's legacy lives on through her devoted family. She is survived by her son, David Szalanski; her daughter, Pamela Lea Palitzsch; her grandchildren, Tyler S. (Jamie) Palitzsch, Devan Palitzsch, and Skyler C. (Jazmine) Szalanski; and her great-grandchildren, John Palitzsch and Audrey Palitzsch. Ruth also leaves behind many other family members and friends whose lives she touched with her warmth and kindness.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, A. Donald Szalanski; her father, Charles Robert Reeves; her mother, Opal Leanna Reeves; her son-in-law, Tim Scott Palitzsch; and her brother, Charles Robert (Geraldine) Reeves.

Ruth Szalanski will be remembered for her generosity, her gracious spirit, and her unwavering love for her family and community. Her memory will remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
