Sandra Lee Wood, born on December 10, 1951, passed away on August 22, 2026.
Sandra found her calling within the world of journalism. She served as a newspaper editor at the Philadelphia Inquirer, shaping stories and touching lives through her thoughtful guidance. Her career continued at the St. Louis Post Dispatch, where she eventually retired, leaving a legacy of professionalism and integrity that inspired all who worked with her.
Retirement marked the beginning of a new and vibrant chapter for Sandra. She channeled her creativity and passion into a jewelry-making business, delighting in the opportunity to share her artistry with others. Craft fairs and jewelry parties became avenues for her to connect, bringing beauty and joy to so many in her community. Through her crafts, she built friendships and cherished the sense of togetherness these gatherings brought.
Sandra deeply valued time with friends and family, always seeking opportunities to gather and strengthen bonds. Sandy was stong in her faith and was a Christian role model for all who knew her.
She is survived by her beloved niece, Andrea (Jeffrey) Lange; her nephew, Matthew Bahr; great-nephews, Walter Lange and Jesse Bahr; great-nieces, Claire Lange and Jaycee Bahr; and a host of other family members and friends whose lives she touched.
Sandra was preceded in death by her father, Robert Donald Wood; her mother, Wanda Lee Wood; and her sister, Jody (Donald) Jensen.
Sandra Lee Wood’s legacy will live on through her family, friends, and community. She will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, and unwavering love for those she cared about.
