Shirley Ann Reinsmith, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 6, 1938, Shirley graced this world with 88 years of kindness, devotion, and heartfelt warmth that touched all who knew her.

Shirley’s life was rooted in love and family, values she held close and honored each day. She was a proud homemaker, devoted to caring for her husband and son with unwavering affection. Her steadfast dedication radiated into every facet of her life, creating a home that was both a sanctuary and a place where laughter, creativity, and deep connection flourished.

Always gentle and genuine, Shirley was known for her loving spirit and tireless care for others. Those who had the joy of knowing her recall her as kind, protective, hardworking, and artistic—a woman whose heart was as open as her doors to family and friends. She reveled in the roles of wife and mother, savoring every moment in the presence of her children and grandchildren, cherishing their achievements, and nurturing them with an endless reservoir of love.

Family meant everything to Shirley. She is survived by her adoring husband, Daniel Reinsmith, with whom she was preparing to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this coming December—a milestone that speaks to their enduring bond and shared journey. Shirley’s legacy lives on through her children: Linda (Dennis) Fitzgerald, Shellie Dawson, James Fannon, Shirley (Bill) Prater, Danielle (Kevin) Podmore, Annie Kempf, Diann Reinsmith, Daniel (Terry) Reinsmith, Michael Reinsmith, Judith (Kevin) Boul, Harry Reinsmith, and Johnny Reinsmith. She embraced each new life in her growing family tree, treasuring her grandchildren—Patrick, Sherry, Natalie, Trey, Raechel, Amanda, Angie, Julie, Christine, Becky, Harry Steven, Carrie Beth, Emma, Erin, Ryan, Megan, Colin, Joseph, Molly, Caitlin, Lauren, Brennah, Melanie, Danny, Adam, Jacob, Shelby, Anthony, Shellie, Joey, Kaitlin, Logan, Isabelle, Jacob, Owen, and Danica—and great-grandchildren, finding immense joy in babysitting, encouraging, and celebrating all their milestones. Her sisters, Norma Schneider, Nina Apsey, and half-sister Pamela Thomure, survive her as well, remembering her as a sister whose loyalty and loving nature were beyond measure.

Her circle of love also remembers those gone before her: her first husband, James H. Fannon; her precious granddaughter, Ashley; and her parents, Ben Newhouse and Opal Nash. Their memories are forever entwined with hers, shaping the profundity of family bonds Shirley so deeply nurtured.

Shirley’s interests and passions were as vibrant as her spirit. She found delight in travel and the calm of her country home, enthusiasm in camping trips, and great satisfaction in losing herself in a good book. A gifted artist, Shirley’s creativity adorned both her home and the lives of those she loved. She was happiest when her home was full—grandchildren underfoot, stories being shared, laughter echoing. Culinary memories linger, too, as Shirley was a fantastic cook who brought everyone together around the dinner table to enjoy her lovingly prepared meals.

Among all her accomplishments, Shirley was proudest of her children and grandchildren. She carried their joys and sorrows as her own, encouraging each step, celebrating every achievement, and guiding them with the wisdom and grace of her lived experience.

To honor Shirley’s memory, family and friends are invited to gathering together for visitation on August 28, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, St. Peters, located at 837 Mid Rivers Mall Dr, St Peters, MO. A Mass will be held on August 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2 Seton Ct, St Charles, MO, followed by a graveside service at Sacred Heart Cemetery & Mslm, 980 Graham Rd, Florissant, MO, at 12:15 p.m.

As we mourn Shirley’s passing, we also celebrate a life lived fully and generously—a life remembered for the love she gave, the comfort she provided, and the legacy she leaves through her cherished family. Shirley Ann Reinsmith will forever remain in the hearts of those lucky enough to have known her, her love continuing to inspire and uplift for generations to come.
