Thomas Benton Hamrick Jr., born on December 1, 1940, in the embrace of a loving family, passed away on August 29, 2025. He will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose impact on the lives he touched will resonate for years to come.

Thomas had a myriad of interests that he passionately pursued throughout his life. He loved spending time with his family, creating memories that would be treasured forever. His adventurous spirit was fueled by travel, as he proudly visited all fifty states, each destination enriching his life experiences. An avid outdoorsman, he cherished the beauty of nature and the adventures it offered.

Flying became a significant hobby for Thomas, as he took to the skies as a pilot, embracing the freedom it brought him. With a guitar and harmonica in hand, he often filled the air with music, sharing his joy with those fortunate enough to be near him. His love for animals was another testament to his compassionate nature, reflecting his deep connection to the world around him.

Surviving Thomas are his three daughters, Barbra (David) Hargrove, Lori (Kevin) Sprick, Joanna (Gary) Hoelscher, and his son, David (Mandy) Hamrick. He also leaves behind two step-sons, Bruce (Janet) Colbert and Brian Colbert, along with a step-daughter, Laurel (Don) Zach. His legacy continues through his fourteen grandchildren—Amanda (Craig) VanNatta, Joshua (Liz) Sprick, Niki (Beau) Johnson, Samuel (Emily) Hargrove, Kate (Joe) Hargrove, Taylor (Matthew) Thayer, Paige (Khalil) Hamrick, Anna (Austin) Nicolas, Benjamin (Sarah) Hoelscher, Alexis (Clayton) Weatherman, Grace Hargrove, Zachary Hoelscher, Adalyn Hoelscher, and Alyssa Hamrick—and fifteen great-grandchildren, each of whom he held dear.

Thomas was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jill I. Hamrick, his father Thomas Benton Hamrick, his mother Ada Ellen Hamrick, and his siblings, including four sisters—Leota Sanders, Louise Wade, Mary Alice Crabtree, and Velma Puckett—and his brother, Lewis Hamrick. The absence of these cherished family members left a mark on his life, yet it was through the love of his immediate family that he found strength and purpose.

As we remember Thomas Benton Hamrick Jr., let us celebrate a life well-lived, characterized by love, adventure, and a deep appreciation for family and nature. His spirit will forever remain a guiding light for those he leaves behind.
