Thomas T. “Tom” Nelson born on July 19, 1944, in Floydada, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on September 6, 2025. He lived a vibrant life, marked by his many interests and the love he shared with his family and friends.
Tom served in the US Army Intelligence Corps from 1965 to 1968. He then worked as an electrical designer for over 40 years.
Tom was a man of many passions. He loved reading library books, watching golf, and hunting for treasures at estate sales. In his younger years, he was a gifted athlete, especially fond of football, baseball, softball, bowling, and golf. He also enjoyed time outdoors fishing and gardening, and he delighted in sharing the beauty of his beloved hostas. A lifelong learner, Tom had a deep appreciation for art, music, and museums, and he was a formidable Jeopardy opponent from his chair. He also found joy in cooking and baking, bringing happiness to others through the meals and treats he created.
He is lovingly remembered and survived by his devoted wife, Lenore Nelson, their daughter, Leah (Jarrod) Hemmer, and sons Andrew (Eva) Nelson and Philip (Ashley) Nelson. Thomas felt immense pride in his five grandchildren—Gabrielle Nelson, Greta Hemmer, Atarah Nelson, Harlow Hemmer, and Matthias Nelson—who brightened his life and filled his heart with pride and joy.
He was “Tommy” to his siblings. He is survived by five sisters: Gail, Janice, Barbara, Angie, and Karen. He was preceded in death by his brothers Bill and Roger, and baby sister, Patricia, as well as his parents, Raymond and Joyce Nelson. Their memories remain close to the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
