Tom Baker

Tom Baker passed away on August 29, 2026, at the age of 96.

Tom will be remembered as a witty and charming man with a great sense of humor, and as someone who was always a gentleman. He served in the Air National Guard in the 1950s and went on to work for American Can Company for more than 35 years. He also remained deeply rooted in home and family, living in the same house for 67 years. A lasting part of his life was his marriage to his beloved wife, Doris, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.

Tom embraced life with energy and enthusiasm. He was a marathon runner who completed six marathons. He was also an avid golfer and achieved the remarkable distinction of making five holes-in-one. He enjoyed bowling as well, and bowled a perfect 300 game at least once. Even after the age of 80, Tom continued to pursue new adventures and learned how to fly a small aircraft. Through many important moments in his life, he was also accompanied by his cat, Ms. Kitty, with whom he shared 17 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Deborah (Rick) Giorgis; and his sons, Dan (Barbara), and Patrick (Sharon) Baker. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Tim Giorgis, David Giorgis, Nicki (Dan) Meyers, Cassia (Nik) Bali, Matthew (Samantha Kinder) Burdick, Jessica Baker, Ben Balch, and Samantha Balch. Tom’s family also includes his ten great-grandchildren, Jax, Cy, Aleena, Tommy, Jack, Savannah, Kolton, Jacolby, Paityn, and Owen, along with many other family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

Tom’s long life was marked by dedication, humor, loyalty, and a willingness to keep learning and growing at every age. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
