Vanas Blackwood Jr

Vanas Blackwood Jr., age 88, of Saint Peters, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 in Saint Peters, Missouri. He was born in Reverie, Tennessee on July 11, 1936 to Vanas and Geniva Blackwood (nee Owens). 

 Van was a Foreman at Star Manufacturing for 42 years. He was married to Jean Blackwood for 60 years.

He loved spending time with his family especially watching his grandchildren play sports. 

Van is survived by his two daughters, Sharon (Bob) Schnur, Vicki (Lance) Voepel; two sons, Kevin (Janet) Blackwood, Gary Blackwood; eleven grandchildren, Michael Blackwood, Tim (Randee) Schnur, Angie (Kevin) Bridges, Joey (Tiffany) Blackwood, Matt Blackwood, Brad (Shari) Schnur, Lee (Tara) Blackwood, Phil (Trina) Blackwood, Drew (Amber) Schnur, Abby (Richard) States, Luke Voepel; 20 Great- Grandchildren; Brother, Harold Blackwood; and a host of other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Blackwood; father, Vanas H Blackwood, Sr.; mother, Geniva Blackwood; two sons, Larry Blackwood, Jimmie Blackwood; grandchild, Ray-Ray Blackwood; two brothers, Henry Blackwood, Joe Blackwood; sister, Doris Todd.

Visitation will be held September 4, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., at St. Peters Chapel, Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376. A service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. with Sam Rowley officiating.
