Verna E. Sitze, born on October 12, 1938, in Alliance, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 15, 2025, in St. Peters, Missouri, surrounded by her loving family. Verna lived a fulfilled life, marked by her unwavering devotion to her family and many cherished memories.
She attended Patton High School, from which she graduated, and later encapsulated her professional achievements in a remarkable 30-year career at McDonnell Douglas, now known as Boeing. Verna was immensely proud of her work, and equally so of her family, who were the central focus of her life.
Her children, Brenda (David) Roark and Richard Sitze, have fond memories of their childhoods, a time when their mother worked tirelessly to provide for them and instilled in them values that would serve them throughout their lives. Her spirit was characterized by a spunky personality, vibrant and full of life, always prioritizing the family above all else.
Verna found solace and joy in gardening, particularly delighting in beautiful flowers, especially roses. She enjoyed the great outdoors and loved camping and boating, reveling in nature’s beauty.
She is survived by her beloved children, Brenda Roark and Richard Sitze; her grandchildren, Brandy (Dave) Nieters, Elizabeth (Bill) Ruck, Cathy (Dylan) Lynn, and Bill (Lily) Sitze; and her great-grandchildren, Marie Ruck, Alice Ruck, Charlotte Nieters, Harrison Nieters, Lola Lynn, and Dylan Lynn.
Verna is preceded in death by her husband, Donald H. Sitze; her parents, Alma and William Brotherton; her brother, Bill (Peggy) Brotherton; her brother, Jack (survived by his wife Donna) Brotherton; her sister, Verla (Louie) Naeve; and her sister, Judy (survived by her husband Irv) Cummings.
Services to honor Verna's life will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home of St. Peters. A visitation will begin at 9:30 am, with service at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Valhalla Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.
As we remember Verna, we celebrate a life dedicated to family and filled with love, laughter, and kindness. She will be missed by all who knew her and will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
