Virginia "Ginny" (GG) Gettemeier, born on February 2, 1954, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose life deeply touched all who knew her.
Ginny was a woman of many passions and gentle pursuits. She loved to garden and found joy in painting, expressing her creativity and connection to nature through these treasured hobbies. Her deep affection for animals and the tranquility of country life filled her days with beauty and peace, particularly as she tended to her greenhouse with devoted care. Above all, Virginia took great pleasure in caring for her family and friends, a testament to her generous spirit and loving heart.
Her legacy is fondly remembered by those who survive her. Ginny is lovingly mourned by her husband, Gerald Gettemeier, and their son, Brian Gettemeier. GG was a proud grandmother to four grandchildren: Tori, Joseph, Grace, and Sophia Gettemeier. Ginny’s familial bonds extended to her sister, Gerrie Lynn Greenway, along with many other cherished family members and friends who held her in high regard.
Ginny was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Leo Brooks and Loraine Brooks, as well as by her son, Gregory Gettemeier, and sister, Larissa Buffington. Their memories remain an integral part of the fabric of her life.
Friends and family will gather to honor Ginny’s memory with a visitation at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri, located at 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, on May 18, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. A celebration of life will follow that same day at 1907 Grandmas Lane in O’Fallon, Missouri, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., providing an opportunity to share stories, remember her warmth, and celebrate the enduring impact she had on all who knew her.
Ginny Gettemeier’s life was one defined by love, devotion, and a quiet strength. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends, who continue to find comfort in the profound example she set. Her spirit, like the gardens she nurtured, has left roots that will flourish for generations to come.
