Virginia Lee Pohlmann, lovingly known as “Tissie,” a nickname given to her by her family, was born on August 15, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to Joe and Barbara White, and grew up in Dorena, Missouri. She married Edwin Pohlmann on April 29, 1967, and together they built a life centered on family, faith, and love. Virginia worked at Rubelmann Lucas in St. Louis before stepping away to raise her children. She later returned to work and spent more than 30 years as an administrative assistant and office clerk with the Hazelwood School District.
Above all, Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was the sweetest and most caring woman, and to her family, she was simply the best mom ever. If two words could describe Virginia, they would be unconditional love. She loved, nurtured, and supported her family throughout her life, in good times and bad, always putting those she loved before herself.
Virginia found joy in cooking, knitting, country music, and all things Christmas, especially her extensive collection of Santa Claus figures. Nothing made Virginia happier than having her family together, especially during the holidays she loved so much. Her Christian faith was a quiet and steady part of who she was, rooted in her Methodist upbringing and sustained throughout her adult life as a devoted member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Hazelwood.
Virginia is survived by her beloved husband, Edwin Pohlmann; her son, Aaron Pohlmann, and his wife, Lisa; her grandchildren, Jack, Kieran, Konner, Kinsey, and Kaia Pohlmann; and her siblings, Ben White, Theresa Nauman, Penny Wright, and Warren White. She was preceded in death by her son, Patrick Pohlmann, in 2018; her parents, Joe and Barbara White; and her siblings, Diane White, Clifton White, and Jim Bill White.
