William Andrew "Drew" Murray, known affectionately as Drew, passed away on June 21, 2026, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 46. Born on November 22, 1979, in Centralia, Illinois, Drew’s life was filled with accomplishment, devotion, and quiet strength—a combination that touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Drew began his journey in Centralia, where he grew into a young man surrounded by family and a close-knit community. From an early age, his light shone brightly, and he made a lasting impression at Centralia High School, graduating in the Class of 1998. While there, Drew’s natural athleticism and fierce dedication on the field earned him a place as an All-State Football player. He also excelled on the basketball and tennis courts, a testament to his boundless energy and competitive spirit. He was a member of the 1998 Centralia Orphans State Basketball run.
Driven by a commitment to furthering his education, Drew went on to attend Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where he earned his certificate in Water Waste Management. This pursuit was not just academic—it spoke to his sense of responsibility, his desire to make a meaningful impact, and his readiness to work hard for the greater good.
With his education as a foundation, Drew embarked on a career with MSD, rising to the role of Class A Operator. During his more than 15 years at MSD, he took great pride in his work, understanding the vital importance of what he did—even though it often went unseen by the wider world.
Yet, above all else, Drew’s greatest source of joy and pride was his family—especially his daughter, Audrey, who survives him. Audrey was the light of his life, and those close to them saw the pure love and unwavering support Drew gave as a father. He is also survived by his loving sister Jodi Murray and her husband, Mike Armstrong; his nieces, Jordyn and Jerzi Armstrong; his nephew, Ace Armstrong; and his devoted uncle and aunt, John T. Acre and Vickie Acre. Each carries forward special memories and the gentle wisdom Drew shared.
Drew could be counted on in moments big and small, often preferring quiet acts of kindness to attention or praise. He loved the outdoors and found joy in spending time at the park with his daughter, fishing, golfing, and kayaking. Whether he was on the water, on the golf course, or enjoying nature, he was happiest outside doing the things he loved.
He was also known for his unique quirks that made him who he was. One that his family remembers fondly was how much he disliked having his food touching. These little habits, along with his sense of humor and personality, are part of the memories his family will cherish forever.
William Andrew "Drew" Murray’s legacy is one of love and perseverance. Though his journey on earth has ended too soon, the imprint he leaves on his family, colleagues, and friends endures. His laughter, encouragement, and the values he lived each day will live on in those who loved him most.
Services will be private, but all who knew Drew are encouraged to remember him in the small kindnesses and everyday moments that truly capture his spirit.
