William S. Skaggs, fondly known as Bill or Red, passed away on July 26, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on April 7, 1939, in Cleveland, Ohio, Bill lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, and a love for the outdoors.
Bill dedicated 40 years of his career to the electrical union at McDonnell Douglas, where he advanced to the role of electrical inspector. He was respected for his meticulous nature and detailed approach to his work. His colleagues will remember him not only for his professional achievements but also for his humor and kindness.
A proud veteran, Bill served in the Army National Guard starting in October 1961. This sense of duty and commitment extended beyond his military service and into all aspects of his life.
Bill had numerous interests that showcased his vibrant personality. He found joy in tinkering in the garage and had a profound passion for the outdoors, often spending time camping. He loved anything with wheels, including his beloved motorcycle.
In addition to his interests, Bill was deeply involved in his community. He volunteered his time and skills at the First Baptist Church, contributing to sound management and general maintenance alongside a dedicated team of men from the congregation.
He is survived by: his wife, Janell Skaggs; his sister Karen Kauffmann and her daughter Betsy Kauffmann; his daughter and her husband, Jada and Steve Inmann; his son and his wife, Scott and Vickie Skaggs; his grandchildren: Kayla and Chase Higginbotham, Rebekah and Mikey Detmering, Ben Inman, Tiffany Inman, Sam and Megan Skaggs, Karis and Joe Scheihing, Wil Skaggs, Landon Loeffler; his great-grandchildren: Vesper Detmering, Judah Skaggs, Ezekiel Skaggs, Ezra-James Skaggs, who undoubtedly carry forward his legacy of hard work, kindness, and a zest for life. Bill is now reunited with his great-granddaughter Adelaide Detmering in heaven.
Visitation services will be held on August 23, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376. A memorial service will follow the visitation beginning at 4:00 PM at the same location.
